Five years later, the problems have not been resolved: an on-site meeting of the TSC was held on the preservation of objects related to the life of Shevchenko
Financing and challenges in the activities of the Shevchenko National Reserve, issues regarding the commissioning of the National Cultural Center «Shevchenko HUB» and its legal status were discussed during an off-site meeting of the TSK of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the investigation of possible violations of Ukrainian legislation in the fields of culture, cultural heritage protection, tourism, physical culture and sports on May 12 in Kanev.
The meeting was attended by members of the Accounting ChamberYelizaveta Pushko-Tsybulyak and the Director of the Department of Control (Audit) in the Field of Culture, Scientific Activity, Spiritual and Physical Development Serhiy Kopylov, representatives of executive and local authorities and the management of the Shevchenko National Reserve.
In addition, the participants of the meeting generally assessed the activities to preserve the historical heritage associated with the life of Taras Shevchenko, and found out the reasons for the delay in putting the «Shevchenko HUB» into operation.
Elizaveta Pushko-Tsybulyak noted that the Accounting Chamber had previously informed about certain shortcomings and risks in the management of the reserve, which were identified based on the results of the 2019 audit of the effectiveness of the use of funds allocated to the Ministry of Culture for the preservation of cultural heritage, including the objects of the Shevchenko National Reserve.
«And after five years, the problems of preserving cultural heritage objects and their timely restoration remain relevant. Ineffective management decisions create risks of causing losses to the state. We hope that as a result of this meeting, ways will be found to resolve the identified problematic issues regarding the commissioning of the National Cultural Center «Shevchenko HUB». The Accounting Chamber, for its part, will analyze the situation when conducting a sectoral analysis and consider the issue of conducting an appropriate audit when planning control measures for the next period» – added Yelizaveta Pushko-Tsybulyak.
Let us recall that during the previous meeting of the TSC with the participation of specialists from the Accounting Chamber, we also reviewed the status of the Ministry of Culture's implementation of the recommendations of the Accounting Chamber based on the results of previous audits.
