    EUROSAI Objectives: The Court of Auditors presented the achievements of the Disaster Prevention Working Group

    Ways and methods of implementing the EUROSAI strategic objectives for 2024-2030, the challenges faced by supreme audit institutions in this process, as well as new initiatives were discussed during the First Joint Meeting of Strategic Objectives 1 and 2 within the framework of the EUROSAI Strategic Plan*. The working meeting of auditors was held on 5-6 March in Bratislava (Slovak Republic).

    *EUROSAI Strategic Plan  2024-2030 is based on the concept, mission and values ​​of the organization, two strategic objectives, as well as a number of principles and measures to strengthen the leadership and improve the methodology of the Organization. 

    Strategic Objective 1 (SO 1): Supporting effective, innovative and relevant financial control by promoting and coordinating professional cooperation. Co-chairs: SAI of Lithuania (member of the Steering Committee) and SAI of Germany.

    Strategic Objective 2 (SO 2): Helping SAIs to seize new opportunities and address new challenges by supporting and facilitating the development of their institutional capacity. Co-chairs: SAI of Sweden (member of the Steering Committee) and SAI of Poland.

    The event, organized by the supreme audit institutions of Lithuania, Germany, Poland and Sweden, brought together 55 participants from 24 countries. Among them were representatives of the Accounting Chamber: Deputy Head of the Environmental Control Department Lilia Prudivus and Deputy Head of the Agricultural and Industrial Control Department Viktoria Boychenko.

    During the meeting, representatives of the EUROSAI working groups shared the results of their activities, in particular, the auditors of theAccounting Chamber reported on the achievements of the Working Group on the Audit of Funds Allocated for the Prevention and Elimination of the Consequences of Disasters, which the Accounting Chamber has chaired since 2014.

    Among the key achievements is the recently completed parallel audit on the protection of forests from fires, conducted jointly with the SAIs of Lithuania and Georgia, which is a contribution to the achievement of one of the tasks of the EUROSAI Strategic Objective 1.

    The organizers noted the importance of the Working Group's contribution to both the implementation of the EUROSAI Strategic Plan 2024-2030 and the organization's previous activity plan, and the methodological documents developed by the group for auditors in the field of disaster prevention and mitigation are particularly valuable.

    The meeting also discussed effective methods for implementing EUROSAI's strategic objectives, including developing the professional potential of auditors, strengthening the institutional capacity of SAIs, and enhancing knowledge exchange.

    The auditors also presented new initiatives that are currently being implemented in cooperation between individual SAIs of member countries to achieve the EUROSAI Strategic Objectives.
