From 23 to 25 June, an international workshop on quality management and the implementation of the revised ISSAI 140 standard was held in Istanbul, Türkiye.
Organised by the Swedish National Audit Office within the framework of the Project Group on EUROSAI Development Activities (EDA),the event brought together quality management experts from 12 Supreme Audit Institutions: Albania, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, Moldova, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine, Montenegro and Sweden.
Ukraine’s experience was presented at the workshop by Yulia Myronenko, Director of the Department of the Audit Quality Assurance, Methodology, and Legal Expertise, and Tetiana Borovkova, Head of the Internal Control Coordination Sector of the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine.
During the workshop, participants shared their experiences inoperatingquality management systems within their SAIs and discussed the challenges associated with implementing the revised ISSAI 140, “Quality Management for SAIs”. Particular attention was paid to setting quality objectives by Supreme Audit Institutions as one of the key elements of the effective implementation of ISSAI 140.
The participants identified approaches to monitoring quality management systems and performing annual assessments of those systems for further exchange of experience.
The Accounting Chamber’s experts shared practical experiencein developingits quality management system and actively contributed to discussions on modern approaches to ensuring audit quality. This exchange of experience will support the further development of the Accounting Chamber’s quality management system in line with international standards and the best practices of supreme audit institutions.

The workshop was held as part of the activities of the Project Group on EUROSAI Development Activities (EDA),which plans to organise a series of thematic in-person and online events over the next two years. The events will focus on the practical aspects of quality management and the joint development of effective approaches to implementing international standards.
