On November 29, 2006 in the course of IV EUROSAI WGEA Meeting in Luxembourg the General Assembly approved the Resolution on establishing EUROSAI WGEA Special Subgroup on the Audit of Natural, Man-caused Disasters Consequences and Radioactive Wastes Elimination.

The Accounting Chamber of Ukraine will be the Chair of the Subgroup with its Secretariat located in Kyiv. The founders of the Subgroup became SAIs of Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Poland, Russian Federation, Slovak Republic, Switzerland and European Court of Auditors.

As provided in Subgroup's Terms of Reference the International Co-ordinated Audit of the Chernobyl Shelter Fund is scheduled for 2007-2008. At the moment 9 SAIs expressed their interest in participating in the audit.
