In Vilnius, under the chairmanship of the President of EUROSAI, the President of the Supreme Audit Office of the Czech Republic Miloslav Kala, the Governing Board Meeting of the European Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI) has begun, in which the Acting Chairman, Deputy Chairman of the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine Andrii Maisner is taking part.
On the first day of a busy agenda, the EUROSAI Governing Board unanimously approved the initiative of the National Audit Office of the United Kingdom, presented by the Comptroller and Auditor General Gareth Davies, according to which EUROSAI created a project group to support the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine in its work under unprecedentedly difficult conditions and circumstances that arose as a result of the war.
According to the head of the SAI of the United Kingdom, this group will systematically, with the involvement of colleagues and the best practices from various Supreme Audit Institutions, which are part of EUROSAI, provide substantive practical support to the auditing activities of Ukrainian colleagues. Gareth Davies emphasized that significant financial and other assistance from international partners, in particular European ones, conditions the deepening of practical interaction of SAIs – members of EUROSAI with the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine. In addition, he noted that a number of working consultations between the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine and the National Audit Office of the United Kingdom made it possible to work out the optimal format of such interaction and ensure the synergy of this support with other projects for increasing potential and institutional capacity of the Accounting Chamber. It is about the EU Project “Strengthening Capacities in External Audit in line with International Standards” (EU4ACU) and the Project “Strengthening the Capacity of the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine” (ACU-USAID-GAO), which are implemented by Ukrainian auditors together with European and American colleagues, respectively.
Andrii Maisner thanked the National Audit Office of the United Kingdom represented by Gareth Davies for the initiative and practical support, as well as colleagues from EUROSAI and the President Miloslav Kala personally for the unanimous approval of this initiative and joint efforts to provide systematic professional assistance to the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine.
