II Meeting of the EUROSAI WGEA Special Subgroup on the Audit of Natural, Man-caused Disasters Consequences and Radioactive Wastes Elimination headed by Dr.Valentyn Symonenko was organized in the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine on December 4-5, 2007 in Kyiv.
The Meeting was attended by auditors from 8 SAIs participating in the International Co-ordinated Audit of the Chernobyl Shelter Fund and SAI of Norway as an observer. Concerned Ukrainian government senior officials visited this Meeting as well.
EUROSAI WGEA Co-ordinator Mr. Zbigniew Wesołowski in his speech gave a high assessment of the Subgroup's activities and the progress reached since its establishment in November 2006.
During II Special Subgroup Meeting they discussed the final audit findings obtained by SAIs in the course of the International Audit, structure of the Joint Report and procedure of its signing and presentation at VII EUROSAI Congress in June 2008 in Krakow, Poland.
SAI of Ukraine, as the Audit Co-ordinator, will develop Draft Joint Report, which will be considered and approved at III Meeting in spring 2008. Prospective cooperative audit topics for 2009-2011 and other Subgroup's activities will be discussed during the next Subgroup Meeting as well.
