Guided by the Resolution on the establishment of the EUROSAI Task Force on the Audit of Funds Allocated to Disasters and Catastrophes the Chair Dr. Valentyn Symonenko presented the Task Force progress report for the period June 2008 − June 2009 to the XXXV Meeting of EUROSAI Governing Board that was held on June 23, 2009 in Kyiv, Ukraine.
The Chair reported on the activities accomplished so far, in particular, on I Meeting of the Task Force conducted in March 2009 with the participation of 11 European SAIs, during which the Terms of Reference and the Work Plan for 2009−2011 were approved.
In addition, Dr. Valentyn Symonenko emphasized on the ongoing development of the survey aimed at collecting the data about disasters and catastrophes in Europe and activities of SAIs in this field, which is to be distributed among all the Supreme Audit Institutions of EUROSAI upon acceptance of the Task Force members.
The Task Forceґs survey will focus on the existing experience, achievements and examples of best practice accumulated by SAIs during performed audits on the topic. It will enable to indentify perspective topics for collaboration, develop and further maintain the database of audits on natural and man-caused disasters and catastrophes.
