The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has been supporting Ukraine on behalf of the German Federal Government since 1993, European Union and other international partners for strengthening country’s economic development. The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) cooperates with the Government of Ukraine for implementation of EU Association Agreement. Today Ukrainian-German cooperation currently focuses on the following areas: good governance, energy efficiency and climate, sustainable economic development.
The national reform of public finance is one of the reforms that is carried out by GIZ. The aims of the reform are to ensure transparent and efficient management of the state budget of Ukraine according to European and international standards, as well as to mobilize state incomes for the benefit of sustainable development. Despite on the significant success of this reform, Ukraine's public finance system has serious challenges.
Today the platforms introduced for ensuring transparency of public finances need external support, provided in the framework of the project implementation "Good Financial Governance in Public Finance III" (hereinafter – the Project), to support the national financial institutions in the public finance reform implementation for building up effective and accountable public financial management system.
The Accounting Chamber of Ukraine is one of the recipients of this Project and receives consultation support from GIZ concerning strategic planning, communication and knowledge management, which helps in strengthening its role as an independent supreme audit institution of Ukraine.
Cooperation with the Project conducts within the defined priorities:
− Strategic Goal I. To Strengthen the Role of the Accounting Chamber as a Supreme Audit Institution in Ukraine.
− Strategic Goal II. To strengthen the institutional and professional capacity of the Accounting Chamber
− Strategic Goal III. To Gain Public Recognition and Trust in the Accounting Chamber’s Activity.
− Strategic Goal IV. To Represent Effectively the Accounting Chamber in the International Audit Community.
