The round table "Joint Audit: Bridging the Gap between Internal and External Auditors" was held on the 27th of September in Kyiv.
Representatives of the Accounting Chamber, Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, State Audit Service of Ukraine and internal auditors from Ministries (Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine; Ministry of Energy of Ukraine; Ministry of Defense of Ukraine; Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine) participated in the event. The round table organized with the support of the European Union Technical Assistance Project "Strengthening Capacities in External Audit in Line with International Standards (EU4ACU)".
The event started with a joint presentation of the Accounting Chamber and the Internal Audit Department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Igor Iaremchuk, the Member of the Accounting Chamber, and Oleksandr Tytkovskyi, Director of the Internal Audit Department of the Ministry of Defense told the participants about the experience of involving internal auditors in external audits during the panel discussion of the round table. According to them, this approach has demonstrated the effectiveness of close cooperation between various branches of "financial defense" which in turn has not only improved the effectiveness of the audit, but also reduced the using of audit’s resources.
"The effective interaction of the Internal Audit Units of the Ministries, the State Audit Service as government control and the Supreme Audit Institution as the Accounting Chamber is a key guarantee of three-level control of the public funds amid assistance during military aggression and a guarantee of effective control while the reconstruction of our state. It will ensure transparency and the efficiency of spending every hryvnia, dollar, euro, yen, etc. Finally, I feel a state synergy between the Accounting Chamber and the Internal Audit Units of the Ministries, the State Audit Service of Ukraine", - summarized Andriy Maisner, Acting Chairman of the Accounting Chamber the results of the round table.
