The Chairwoman of the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine Olha Pishchanska held a working meeting with representatives of the international company DAI UK, specializing in the implementation of technical assistance projects. Kyrylo Klymenko, Member of the Accounting Chamber, Dmytro Karnaukhov, Head of Unit of the International Cooperation Department, Luqman Ahmad, Managing Director of the DAI UK and James Littleton, Head of Governance of the DAI UK, took part in the meeting.
The parties discussed topical issues regarding the role of the Accounting Chamber in the economic recovery and reconstruction of the state for their appropriate reflection in current and planned projects, as well as strengthening of international cooperation.
“We now face many challenges. Not just large in volume, but also those that require an urgent solution. We are responsible for the stability of the country now and for its recovery in the future. I am talking about using all the powers of the authorities for this purpose. The Accounting Chamber is open to cooperation with international companies to promote our institutional development”, Olha Pishchanska said.
Among the key tasks, the head of the institution singled out the need to activate the reform of the Accounting Chamber, as well as improve the quality of the institution’s audit work, strengthen the regulatory framework, develop the IT direction in the work of the Chamber, complete transition to international standards for conducting audits and preparing results.
For his part, the Managing Director of the DAI UK Luqman Ahmad noted that the company is interested in cooperation on the issues of supporting the economy of Ukraine and the development of local self-government, cyber security, fighting corruption and supporting the integrity of the state: “We plan to expand our activities in terms of supporting Ukraine”, he emphasized.
As a result, the meeting participants agreed to continue negotiations on possible areas of cooperation at the working level.
Reference: DAI specializes in the implementation of international technical assistance projects with the financial support of the European Union, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) of the United Kingdom. Currently, DAI is implementing nine projects in Ukraine, including economic support for Ukraine, reforming its financial sector, improving the efficiency and accountability of local self-government bodies, etc., with a total budget of more than $704 million.
