Streamlining of internal processes and increased control over the implementation of recommendations are key steps, the implementation of which forms the basis of the image of the Accounting Chamber. This was emphasized by the Chairwoman of the Accounting Chamber, Olha Pishchanska, during her speech at the auditors’ forum on May 30. Already the sixth forum, organized by the Accounting Chamber with the support of the project “Strengthening Capacities in External Audit in Line with International Standards” (EU4ACU), dealt with the topic of ways to improve the image of state audit in Ukraine.

Specialists of the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Accounting Chamber, the State Audit Service of Ukraine, internal auditors of executive authorities, in particular, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, participated in the discussion.

During the report, Olha Pishchanska spoke, in particular, about the improvement of the quality control system, thanks to which a significant increase in confidence in the results of control measures is expected.

“For internal processes, I am sure you will support me, the key is quality control. When we are honest with ourselves, control ourselves, check our processes at every stage. A quality management system is already being implemented in the Accounting Chamber: a methodology has been developed, and those responsible for these processes have been identified”, Olha Pishchanska said.

The Chairwoman of the Accounting Chamber emphasized that for any structure that seeks to be effective, it is important to receive feedback from key stakeholders, which for the Accounting Chamber are society, taxpayers. Also, according to her, among the current priorities in the work of the institution is the strengthening of control over the implementation of recommendations.

“This process includes digitalization, improvement of cooperation with the Verkhovna Rada, the Cabinet of Ministers. We also focus on assessing the quality of the provided recommendations. Because it is important not only how we voice the recommendations, but also how we will be heard and understood”, Olga Pishchanska noted.

In her turn, Team Leader of the project Inguna Sudraba thanked the participants for frank and professional discussions. She expressed hope that while working in groups, the participants will be able to develop a number of new ideas and solutions for the positive promotion of state audit.

During the forum, experts discussed the general strategy of forming the “brand” of the state audit, certain aspects of branding, as well as strategic approaches to the development of communications between internal and external auditors.
