The Chairwoman of the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine discussed the control over the use of international assistance with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and MPs of Norway

The Chairwoman of the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine Olha Pishchanska discussed the current audits of the Accounting Chamber, in particular, those related to the control over the use of direct budget support from international donors and improvement of work processes within the institution during the meetings with the representatives of the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD), the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Utenriksdepartementet) and representatives of the committees of the Norwegian Parliament. The meetings took place during Olha Pishchanska’s working visit to Oslo, Norway, on 3-4 April.

During the meeting with the representatives of NORAD and the Department for Eastern Europe of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Olha Pishchanska presented the results of the Accounting Chamber’s work on audits of the use of international support and outlined the plans to conduct similar audits this year.

The Chairwoman of the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine also discussed the activities of the institution, current audits, and the process of reforming the body with the representatives of the Standing Committee on Scrutiny and Constitutional Affairs and the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense of the Norwegian Parliament. The MPs noted the significant role of the Supreme Audit Institutions in the context of external donor support.

The above-mentioned parliamentary committees include members of almost all parties in the Norwegian Parliament. They all share a common position on supporting Ukraine.

Reference: Norway is one of the largest donors to Ukraine and is the third largest donor in the world in terms of commitments to assist our country as a percentage of GDP (1.722%) and the fifth largest in terms of absolute amounts of such commitments. On 6 February 2023, the Government of Norway announced a five-year support package for Ukraine - The Nansen Support Programme for Ukraine: NOK 75 billion (about $7.1 billion) for 2023-2027.
