Maintaining and increasing the trust of Ukrainian society and international partners is important for the Accounting Chamber. Olha Pishchanska, the Chairwoman of the Accounting Chamber emphasized that during an online meeting with Samvel Markosyan, an expert of the EU Ukraine Budget Support Assessment, and Jenny Lundmark, Sector Manager - Public Finance Management, Budget Support & Statistics of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine.
The meeting took place within the framework of planned assessment of public finance management and transparency in Ukraine. It includes external audit, internal control, legislative initiatives and the work of the Government. The partners were interested in the Accounting Chamber’s achievements, future plans, the institution’s reforms, interaction with the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and other authorities over the past six months. During the assessment, it was also important for the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine to hear about the current challenges and the steps taken to solve them.
The transition to ISSAI standards, the legislative regulation of the Accounting Chamber's authority to conduct compliance audits, the transformation of a new organization chart, the adoption of the Code of Ethics of the Accounting Chamber, Olha Pishchanska singled out among the main Accounting Chamber’s achievements as of the beginning of 2024.
The main future tasks from the beginning of 2024 are enhanced cooperation with the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and improved implementation of the Accounting Chamber’s recommendations, emphasized Olha Pishchanska. She thanked the Delegation of the European Union for the systematic support of technical assistance projects regarding the development of regulatory documentation, gain new skills and knowledge of Ukrainian auditors and consultations.
For reference: The planned assessment of public finance management and transparency in Ukraine is an annual event, the results of which depend on the further EU budget support payments.
