The relevant subcommittee of the Verkhovna Rada considered the Accounting Chamber Report for 2023

On 21 May, the Verkhovna Rada Subcommittee on State Financial Control and the Accounting Chamber's Activities considered and took note of the Accounting Chamber Report for 2023.

Presenting the document to the members of the Parliamentary Subcommittee, the Chairwoman of the Accounting Chamber Olha Pishchanska stressed that although the last year was difficult for the institution, thanks to the coordinated work of the staff and the support of foreign partners, the Accounting Chamber continued to effectively perform the functions of the Supreme Audit Institution of Ukraine.

 

‘Last year, the foundation was also laid for the reform steps that the institution will implement in 2024. In particular, we are talking about the development of a number of documents and draft documents aimed at improving, systematising and streamlining the internal processes in the Accounting Chamber, as well as enhancing its openness,’ Olha Pishchanska emphasised.

The Chairman of the Accounting Chamber also informed the deputies about the key indicators of the institution's work last year:

-  the amount of funds audited and analysed in 2023 during control measures was over UAH 771 billion;

- the total amount of identified violations and weaknesses in the management of public finances is almost UAH 60.8 billion;

- 64.4 per cent of the recommendations provided by the Accounting Chamber in 2022-2023 were fully implemented or are in the process of implementation by the end of 2023;

-  9 pre-trial investigations were initiated as a result of control measures.

The Subcommittee took note of the Accounting Chamber Report for 2023 and provided the institution with its own recommendations based on the results of its review. The Report will be considered by the Parliamentary Committee on Budget in the nearest future.
