The Accounting Chamber participates in the INTOSAI global initiative to assess the actions of governments in the fight against climate change

Representatives of the Accounting Chamber took part in the EUROSAI regional technical seminar on assessing the actions of governments to combat climate change – ClimateScanner, held in Prague, the Czech Republic.

ClimateScanner is an initiative of the SAI of Brazil within the framework of INTOSAI. It provides a coordinated rapid review and tools to assess governments’ actions to combat climate change in three areas: governance, public policy and finances. ClimateScanner accumulates and provides valuable information on these issues for national governments, citizens and other stakeholders, as well as for future in-depth work on the issue in national jurisdictions by SAIs themselves.

The event in the Czech Republic is one of a series of regional training seminars, which will continue with events in the countries of Asia, Africa and Oceania.

The following representatives of the Accounting Chamber took part in the seminar: Serhii Kryvosheia, Deputy Head of the Agricultural Industry and Natural Resources Control Unit of the Agricultural Industry, Use of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Control Department, and Anna Kozlova, Chief Specialist of the of the Agricultural Industry, Use of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Control Department.

As envisaged by the Accounting Chamber’s Work Plan for 2024, the auditors will apply the knowledge gained in assessing the efforts of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in the fight against climate change, in particular, during the national audit within the framework of the Global Cooperative Audit of Climate Change Adaptation Actions implemented by INTOSAI WGEA and IDI.

ClimateScanner results will be presented at the end of 2024 at the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
