For people with visual impairments
Supporting the process of reforming the Accounting Chamber, in particular, by providing assistance in improving auditors’ skills and work processes, was discussed during a series of bilateral meetings of the institution’s management in Romania on September 17-18. The Chairwoman of the Accounting Chamber Olha Pishchanska and the Acting Secretary of the Accounting Chamber – Chief of Staff Vasyl Nevidomyi took part in the international conference of supreme audit institutions on the theme “Responsibility, relevance and resilience in a challenging world”, organized by the SAI of Romania on the occasion of the 160th anniversary of its foundation. President of Romania Klaus Iohannis and the first persons of the state took part in the solemn events.
During the conference, the experience of reforming and modernizing SAIs, issues of stability, sustainable development and adaptability of supreme audit institutions were discussed, the role of SAIs in macroeconomic processes was raised. Representatives of the World Bank, the European Court of Auditors, the Center for Audit Excellence of the US Government Accountability Office, the Netherlands Court of Audit and the Supreme Audit Office of the Czech Republic took part in the discussion.
Also within the framework of the events, the Chairwoman of the Accounting Chamber Olha Pishchanska held a series of bilateral meetings with her colleagues from various SAIs, in particular, with the President of the Romanian Court of Accounts Mihai Busuioc, the President of the Federal Court of Accounts of Brazil, the Chair of INTOSAI, Bruno Dantas, the President of the Supreme Audit Office of the Slovak Republic Ľubomír Andrassy and the the Vice President of the Netherlands Court of Audit Barbara Joziasse.
In general, during the meetings, the partners expressed their readiness to provide support to the Accounting Chamber in the process of its reformation and strengthening of institutional capacity. The central issue of the discussions was cooperation on raising the professional level of auditors of the Accounting Chamber, in particular, by conducting relevant trainings or internships by partners. The experience of colleagues in the development of IT audits, improvement of approaches to working with large data sets is important for the Accounting Chamber.
During the meetings, the challenges for the Accounting Chamber that may arise in connection with the adoption of a new specialized law were also discussed, in particular, the need to eliminate the gap between the existing skills of auditors and the requirements for them in the updated legislation.
Separately, during the meeting with Comptroller General of the United States of America Gene Dodaro, Olha Pishchanska also discussed the interim results of the cooperation of the Accounting Chamber with the Center of Audit Excellence of the US Government Accountability Office and the possibilities for deepening this cooperation in view of its high efficiency.
