The sixty-third meeting of the EUROSAI Governing Board was held in London (United Kingdom). The event focused on the activities of EUROSAI and its working bodies, institutional capacity building, professional cooperation between SAIs and with stakeholders, cybersecurity, the possible role of artificial intelligence tools in improving the work of SAIs, the organization’s relationship with INTOSAI and its regional organizations, as well as other issues that their participating SAIs had been working on over the past year. As a result of the event, the participants approved the decisions necessary for the functioning of the organization, as well as agreed on the plan for the next meeting of the EUROSAI Governing Board, which will be held in 2025 in Sweden.

In general, the meeting was attended by members of the EUROSAI Governing Board: SAIs of the Czech Republic, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, Sweden, Slovakia, Spain and the United Kingdom, as well as its observers: SAIs of Austria (INTOSAI Secretary General), Norway (IDI), Poland, Portugal, the European Court of Auditors, as well as representatives of SAIs of other countries invited as guests. In her video message to the colleagues, the Chairwoman of the Accounting Chamber Olha Pishchanska, apologized for the inability to join the event due to the important events taking place in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine: consideration of the draft State Budget of Ukraine for 2025 and adoption of amendments to the legislation on the work of the Accounting Chamber. The Chairwoman of the Accounting Chamber noted the significant contribution of colleagues from other SAIs to the discussion and preparation of these changes.

We are now preparing to integrate these legislative updates into our work and look forward to your support and sharing of practical experience in these areas. I believe that our collective efforts will strengthen not only Ukraine, but also the entire European region,” the Chairwoman of the Accounting Chamber said.

In her speech, Olha Pishchanska also thanked the participants of the EUROSAI Project Group “Technical Support of the Accounting Chamber”, which is led by the UK NAO, for its support.

“I sincerely thank the National Audit Office of the United Kingdom for initiating and leading the creation of a group that coordinates support for Ukrainian auditors. This allows us at the Accounting Chamber to more effectively control the management of public funds, in particular international financial assistance. We really appreciate all the support from other members of our project group and strive to ensure consistent cooperation,” said the Chairwoman of the Accounting Chamber in her video message.

The Chairwoman of the Accounting Chamber also thanked the SAI of Great Britain for sharing its experience in conducting focus audits, and their colleagues from the European Court of Auditors, SAIs of Belgium and Norway for their activity in conducting seminars and internships.
