Independent Supreme Audit Institutions play a key role in the European integration process that Ukraine and Republic of Moldova are currently going through together. The two countries are bound by long-standing friendship, good neighbourly relations and common challenges. We are committed to strengthening these traditions for the benefit of our peoples. This was said by the Deputy Chairman of the institution Serhii Kliuchka during a solemn event in Chisinau dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova. The event was attended by the Vice President of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova Doina German, President of the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova Tatiana Shevchuk, Auditor General of the State Audit Office of the Republic of Latvia Edgars Korcagins, Deputy President of the Romanian Court of Accounts Lucian Ovidiu Heius, representatives of other SAIs and the EU Delegation and other officials.
In his speech, Serhii Kliuchka thanked the partners for their clear and unequivocal support of Ukraine in its struggle for territorial integrity and independence and wished them success in implementing the tasks of the institution.
‘We welcome your status as an EU candidate country. This is our shared path. The implementation of European standards, modernization of the economy, judicial reforms, and combating corruption are the tasks bringing our countries closer to EU membership,’ he concluded.
Also, during the bilateral meeting with the President of the SAI of Moldova Tatiana Shevchuk, Deputy Chairman of the Accounting Chamber Serhii Kliuchka discussed the development of a three-year cooperation plan, the topics of parallel and joint audits that the SAIs of the two countries could conduct, the formation of the organisational structure of the institutions and approaches to the organisation of external audit activities.
As part of the working visit, Serhii Kliuchka also met with Charge d'Affaires of Ukraine in the Republic of Moldova Nataliia Sirenko to discuss the legislative amendments recently adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine regarding the reform of the Accounting Chamber, the challenges faced by the institution, the exchange of experience and strengthening cooperation with colleagues from the Republic of Moldova.
