Next year the Accounting Chamber is planning to conduct the performance audit on usage of the state budget funds to support the Ukrainian diplomatic institutions abroad and the provision of proper social security for their employees. The Chairman of the Accounting Chamber Valeriy Patskan stated this as a result of the meeting with the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Volodymyr Yelchenko in New York.
According to Valeriy Patskan, during the meeting the issue of holding the UN General Assembly was discussed, which would be held at the end of September in New York. Major issues will be raised such as the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular in the field of health care. Considerable attention was paid to issues concerning the interests of our country and ways to increase the credibility of Ukraine at the international level. "In addition to the current issues, it was important for me to hear what the Accounting Chamber could do for our diplomats. Today, they, like our men in the East, are fighting on the diplomatic front and defending the national interests of Ukraine", − Valeriy Patskan said.
The Chairman of the Accounting Chamber noted that he has recently spoken to many Ukrainian diplomats who express their vision of steps to improve their work. "After the new law on diplomatic service had come into force, there were some problematic issues should be resolved urgently for effectiveness of the diplomatic service," Valeriy Patskan added. In particular, this concerns provisions on social and medical care, the provision of appropriate guarantees to members of families of diplomatic authorities employees, etc. "Therefore, the Accounting Chamber intends to include in the work plan for the next year the relevant audit. We need to thoroughly analyze and give an objective answer, where and at what level, we need make changes to help our diplomatic service to effectively fulfill its tasks", − Valeriy Patskan said.
